Early Life and Education
Sanjeev Persai was born on December 23, 1971, in Pipariya, Hoshangabad district, Madhya Pradesh, India. His father Sh. Badri Prasad persai was a teacher and mother Mrs Sarla Devi was a homemaker.
He completed his primary education at Subhash Chandra Bose Vidyalay in Pipariya and pursued high school and higher secondary education at Ram Narayan Agrawal Higher Secondary School, Pipariya. He earned his bachelor's degree from Government PG College, Pipariya, affiliated with Sagar University, Madhya Pradesh, in 1989.
During his school and college years, sanjeev joined the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA), which nurtured his interest in literature and social issues. After graduation, he moved to Bhopal in search of employment and worked with several small firms and agencies on a freelance bases.
During his struggle days he started to work with some NGOs in mp. This was actually a launch pad for him, to interact with the deprived population. He was closly worked with some community empowerment programs in rural areas.
Realizing his inclination towards media and communication, he pursued a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Bhopal. Following this, he worked with various local and national newspapers and television channels.
Career
Although he initially worked in journalism, Persai was not satisfied with the profession and shifted to the development sector. He began working with NGOs and government-supported projects, focusing on community empowerment, communication, and behavior change.
He is working with an international consulting firm called KPMG India, as a senior advisor/associate director. He has over 22 years of experience in community empowerment, he brought a wealth of expertise to the table, particularly in collaboration with governmental bodies and international organizations.His professional journey includes over 18 years of impactful work within the government sector, along with significant contributions to World Bank, DFID, IFAD, Care, and BBC Media through various community development programs.
He possess 8 years of specialized experience in government advisory roles, having partnered with esteemed organizations such as IPE Global, Grant Thornton, and KPMG. Currently, he serve as Team Leader for the Swachh Bharat Mission, urban in Madhya Pradesh with KPMG.
Tejaswini Rural Women Empowerment Project (2004-2007): Served as the State Manager for Communication and Knowledge Management, working on rural women’s empowerment through self-help groups.
Atal Bal Mission (2007-2008): Worked on malnutrition and vaccination programs in Bundelkhand with IPE Global.
CARE India & BBC Media Action (2008-2011): Served as an Interpersonal Communication Consultant for DFID’s Global Grant Project, supporting the sustainability of immunization and child healthcare in Madhya Pradesh.
Swachh Bharat Mission (2016-2020): Worked as an IEC and Behavior Change Communication Consultant for the Urban Administration and Development Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Grant Thornton India (2020-2024): Served as a Senior Consultant for Social Inclusion in a World Bank-supported program in Madhya Pradesh.
KPMG India (2024-Present): Currently working as an Associate Director and Team Leader for Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) in Madhya Pradesh.
